First Snowfall: A Lesson in Integrity
Dear friends, today I want to share a story from my past, a tale that taught me a valuable lesson about integrity. It’s a story that takes place many years ago, during my first encounter with the snow.
The First Snowfall
As a young lad growing up in the sun-drenched plains of Australia, snow was a foreign concept to me. It was something I had only seen in movies and read about in books. But one year, my family decided to take a trip to the snowy mountains of New Zealand. I was filled with excitement and anticipation.
The Promise
Before we left, my father sat me down and handed me a small, shiny coin. He told me, “Kevin, this is a special coin. It’s for you to toss into the snow when we get there. It’s a tradition, a promise to return.” I held that coin tight, understanding the importance of the promise I was making.
The Temptation
When we finally arrived, the snow was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. It was pure, untouched, and glistening under the sun. The coin in my pocket felt heavy. I was tempted to keep it, to add it to my small collection of coins back home.
The Decision
But then I remembered the promise I had made. The promise to my father, and to myself. I realized that keeping my word, showing integrity, was more important than any material possession. So, I tossed the coin into the snow, watching as it disappeared into the white blanket.
The Lesson
That day, I learned a valuable lesson. Integrity is about doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. It’s about keeping your promises, even when it’s hard. It’s about being true to yourself and to others.
So, my dear friends, as you go about your day, remember the story of the first snowfall. Remember the importance of integrity. And remember, it’s the small decisions we make every day that define who we are.
Until next time,
Kev
