Steadfastness – A Lesson from a Lecture
Dear friends, today I’d like to share with you an inspiring tale. It’s a story centred around something as simple as attending a lecture. Sometimes these seminal moments in life are seemingly mundane, but hold on for their impact is enormous.
The Setting
We’re going back quite some years now, back when I was just 20. Computing was in its infancy and intrigued by the emerging field of technology; I decided to attend this IT lecture In England’s world-renowned University of Cambridge.
The Unpredictable Beginning
As it turned out, travelling over there wasn’t all smooth sailing: unforeseen delays on transit, mix-ups about schedules that caused me to miss meals were just part of the whole experience. Yet instead of turning around or giving up, my spirit remained steadfast.
A Meaningful Encounter
“Kev,” someone asked suddenly after making his way through bustling knobs and valves at the auditorium entrance. “Isn’t your name Kev?” The fellow asking had peeped into my notebook where I jot down ideas simply because they interest me.
Intrigued by our shared interests, he offered me an apprenticeship – a chance to get direct hands-on experience working with advanced computing systems!
The Lesson: Steadfastness Pays Off
I look back at this episode not merely as nostalgia but more for what it taught me. Beyond computing theory and bleeding-edge devices existed something fundamentally transformative — defining one’s purpose despite adversities can reward us countless folds.
“Perseverance pays.” Simple words indeed but when practised diligently bring positive outcomes beyond our imagination.
.
Most importantly though – remember that initial setbacks do not define you or your journey.
Until next time,
Kev
