Placidity Amidst the Food Fight: A Lesson from the Past
Dear friends, today I want to share a story from my youth, a tale that taught me the importance of placidity. It’s a lesson that has served me well throughout my life, and I hope it will do the same for you.
The Great Food Fight
It was a sunny afternoon in the summer of ’68. I was a young lad, barely 15, working at my uncle’s diner. The place was packed, filled with laughter and chatter. Suddenly, a piece of pie flew across the room, hitting a man square in the face. Before anyone could react, a full-blown food fight had erupted.
Now, you might be wondering, what does a food fight have to do with placidity? Well, let me tell you.
Finding Calm in the Chaos
As the food fight raged on, I stood there, frozen in the middle of the chaos. I could have joined in, throwing pies and burgers like the rest of them. But instead, I chose to remain calm. I chose placidity.
While everyone else was caught up in the frenzy, I took a deep breath and started cleaning up. I dodged flying food, wiped down tables, and picked up fallen utensils. Amidst the chaos, I found my peace.
The Lesson Learned
When the food fight finally ended, the diner was a mess. But because I had kept my cool, I had managed to clean up half the place. My uncle was so impressed, he gave me a raise on the spot.
That day, I learned a valuable lesson. In life, there will always be food fights, moments of chaos and disorder. But it’s in these moments that we have a choice. We can join the chaos, or we can choose placidity, finding peace amidst the turmoil.
So, the next time you find yourself in the middle of a food fight, remember my story. Choose placidity. Choose peace. And who knows, you might just get a raise out of it.
Until next time,
Kev
