Dear friends, today I’d like to share a story from my youth, a tale that taught me the value of inventiveness. It’s a story about the time I joined a sports team, and how it changed my life forever.

It was the summer of ’62, and I was a spry young lad with a heart full of dreams. One day, a flyer caught my eye – “Join the local baseball team“, it read. Intrigued, I decided to take the plunge.

Now, I was no Babe Ruth. I had never held a baseball bat in my life. But I was determined to learn. I practiced day and night, but progress was slow. My teammates were patient, but I could see their frustration. I knew I had to do something different.
