Staying Power: A Triumph Over Adversity

Staying Power: A Lesson from My Battle with Illness

Dear friends, today I want to share a story with you, a story of resilience, determination, and most importantly, staying power. It’s a tale from a time when I was not as spry as I am now, a time when I was brought to my knees by an unexpected illness. But, as you’ll see, it’s not the fall that defines us, but how we rise.

The Unexpected Storm

It was the winter of ’89, a winter that I remember all too well. I was struck down by a severe bout of pneumonia. The illness was swift and merciless, leaving me bedridden and gasping for breath. I was a strong man, in the prime of my life, yet I felt as frail as a leaf in the wind.

The Battle Begins

But I am not one to go down without a fight. I knew I had a mountain to climb, but I was determined to reach the summit. I had a family that needed me, a life that I loved, and I wasn’t ready to give up on either. So, I decided to fight, to harness the power of my will and my spirit, and face the illness head-on.

Staying Power: The Key to Recovery

My recovery was slow and painful. There were days when I felt like giving up, days when the pain seemed unbearable. But I held on. I held on because I knew that the only way out was through. This is what I call staying power. It’s the ability to hold on, to keep going, even when the odds are stacked against you. It’s the will to fight, to persevere, no matter how hard the journey.

And guess what? I did recover. It took time, it took patience, and it took a lot of staying power. But I made it. I climbed that mountain and came out stronger on the other side.

Lessons Learned

My friends, life will throw challenges at you. You might find yourself facing a mountain that seems impossible to climb. But remember my story. Remember the power of staying power. It’s not about how fast you can run, or how high you can jump. It’s about how long you can hold on. It’s about resilience, determination, and the will to keep going, no matter what.

So, hold on. Keep going. Harness your staying power. And remember, it’s not the fall that defines us, but how we rise.

Until next time,

Kev
