Believe in Yourself: A Lesson from a Job Interview

Dear friends, today I want to share a story from my past that taught me a valuable lesson about belief. This story revolves around a job interview I had many years ago. It’s a tale that I hope will inspire you to believe in yourself, no matter the odds.

The Interview

It was the summer of 1965. I was fresh out of college, eager to make my mark in the world. I had applied for a job at a prestigious company, and to my surprise, I was called in for an interview. I was excited, but also incredibly nervous. I was a young man from a small town, competing against candidates from big cities with fancy degrees.

The Doubt

As the interview day approached, doubt began to creep in. I started to question my abilities, my qualifications, and even my worth. I was on the verge of calling the company to cancel the interview, convinced that I didn’t stand a chance.

The Lesson

But then, something happened. My grandfather, a wise and insightful man, noticed my distress. He sat me down and shared a piece of wisdom that I carry with me to this day. He said, “Belief in oneself is the first step to success. If you don’t believe in yourself, how can you expect others to believe in you?”
