Alertness: A Lesson from a Day at the Beach

Dear friends, today I’d like to share a story from my past, a tale that taught me the importance of alertness. It was a sunny day at the beach, a day that started like any other but ended with a lesson I’ve carried with me ever since.

It was a typical summer day, the sun was shining, and the waves were gently lapping against the shore. My family and I had set up our spot on the sand, complete with beach chairs and a picnic basket. The kids were excited, running around and building sandcastles, while the adults relaxed and soaked up the sun.

As the day wore on, I noticed a group of people gathering near the water’s edge. They were pointing out to sea, their faces filled with concern. I squinted against the sunlight and saw a small figure bobbing in the water, far from the shore. It was a child, struggling against the current.

Without a second thought, I plunged into the water, swimming as fast as I could towards the child. I reached him just in time, pulling him back to the safety of the shore. It was a terrifying moment, but it taught me a valuable lesson about the importance of alertness.
