Insightfulness: A Lesson from a Stuck Elevator
Dear friends, today I want to share a story from my past, a story that taught me the value of insightfulness. It’s a story about a time when I was trapped in an elevator, a situation that might seem mundane, but it was a moment that changed my perspective forever.
Getting Stuck
It was a typical Tuesday morning. I was on my way to a meeting on the 15th floor of a downtown high-rise. I stepped into the elevator, pressed the button, and waited. But instead of reaching my destination, I found myself stuck between the 7th and 8th floors. The elevator had come to a sudden halt, and I was trapped.
The Panic
At first, panic set in. I was alone, confined in a small space, with no immediate way out. I pressed the emergency button, but there was no response. The minutes turned into an hour, and the hour into several. I was stuck, and there was nothing I could do about it.
The Insight
But then, something shifted. I realized that panic wasn’t going to help me. Instead, I needed to be insightful. I needed to use my knowledge, my experience, and my wisdom to find a way out of this situation.
I remembered a piece of advice from my father: “In every problem, there’s an opportunity.” I started to think about what I could do, rather than what I couldn’t. I used my cell phone to call for help, and while I waited, I used the time to think, to reflect, and to plan.
The Lesson
Eventually, help arrived, and I was freed from the elevator. But the experience stayed with me. It taught me that insightfulness isn’t just about understanding the world around us. It’s about understanding ourselves, our reactions, and our potential. It’s about seeing the opportunities in our challenges, and finding the strength to overcome them.
So, my friends, the next time you find yourself in a difficult situation, remember the stuck elevator. Don’t panic. Be insightful. Use your knowledge, your experience, and your wisdom to find a way forward. And remember, in every problem, there’s an opportunity.
Until next time,
Kev
