Balance: A Lesson from the Yoga Mat
Dear friends, today I want to share a story with you. A story that taught me a valuable lesson about balance. It’s a story that takes place in a Yoga class, an unexpected setting for an old codger like me, but life has a way of surprising us, doesn’t it?
The Unexpected Journey
It all began when my dear granddaughter, always the health enthusiast, convinced me to join her for a Yoga class. I must admit, I was skeptical. The thought of twisting and turning my aging body into pretzel-like shapes was daunting. But, as they say, “You don’t grow when you’re comfortable.”
The Struggle for Balance
As the class began, I found myself struggling. The poses were challenging, and I felt like a fish out of water. But the real struggle was not physical. It was mental. I was battling with my own ego, my own stubbornness. I was so focused on perfecting each pose that I was missing the point. Yoga, as I would soon learn, is not about perfection. It’s about balance.
The Epiphany
It was during a particularly challenging pose, the Tree Pose, that I had my epiphany. As I stood there, wobbling and teetering, I realized that balance is not about standing perfectly still. It’s about adjusting, adapting, and finding your center amidst the chaos. It’s about accepting that it’s okay to wobble, to falter, and to fall. Because it’s in those moments of struggle that we grow.
The Lesson
Friends, life is much like that Yoga class. It’s a constant struggle for balance. We juggle work, family, health, and a myriad of other responsibilities. And sometimes, we falter. We wobble. We fall. But remember, it’s not about perfection. It’s about finding your center amidst the chaos. It’s about adjusting, adapting, and growing.
So, the next time you find yourself struggling for balance, remember the lesson from the Yoga mat. Embrace the wobble. Welcome the fall. Because it’s in those moments of struggle that we truly grow.
Until next time, keep seeking balance.
Yours in wisdom,
Kev
